CLS was established in 1989 in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was a very small beginning for a medical distributor specialized in cardiovascular perfusion products used in heart bypass surgery. In 1992 CLS began adding direct sales representatives in south Texas, stimulating new growth. In 1994 CLS made their first business acquisition, a north Texas based specialty distributor, which gave the company effective sales coverage state wide. This allowed the company to attract more product lines and diversify into areas outside cardiovascular surgery.
With headquarters still in Corpus and warehouses in Dallas and San Antonio the company was expanding rapidly. In July of 2000 the company consolidated operations in San Antonio to reduce the overhead of multiple warehouse locations and improve efficiencies of operations.
In October of 2001 CLS made its second acquisition, this time a surgical laser fiber product line used in various types of surgery. This was a small beginning for Coastal Life Technologies (CLT) and our opportunity to establish the necessary infrastructure to manufacture quality medical devices.
Today our combined companies make over 400 shipments a day nationwide and in some cases outside the US. Products are distributed for numerous vendors by CLS direct to hospitals nationwide for a variety of specialty surgical products used in many different surgical procedures. CLT products are manufactured in ISO Certified facilities to high quality control standards and in compliance with all Federal and International standards. Products are then sold direct to hospitals and to other medical manufacturers.
Coastal Life Systems, Inc. provides key products and support to hospitals and health care professionals, who in turn provide essential care to both adult and pediatric patients. This is a special point of satisfaction to us all.
